Location: Luna Hut Sauna Café - Beaconsfield Road, Brighton, UK
Job Type: Full-Time – 40 hours per week (daytime, evening, and weekend shifts, with 2 days off per week)
Salary: £25-30k, based on experience

Role Overview

The Café Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our new Sauna Café, ensuring high-quality service, an inviting atmosphere, and a well-run food and beverage offering. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and a passion for hospitality and wellness.

As the key on-the-ground representative, the Café Manager will lead a team of baristas and sauna operators, oversee inventory and supplier management, maintain health and safety compliance, and ensure a smooth customer experience. A significant part of the role includes staff training, cost control, and working collaboratively with the marketing team to drive engagement and build a strong customer base.

This position is ideal for an experienced and proactive hospitality professional with a passion for health-conscious food, excellent coffee, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily Café Operations

  • Oversee and manage daily service, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

  • Create and maintain a warm and welcoming environment for customers.

  • Ensure consistent quality and presentation of all food and drink offerings.

  • Develop and implement operational procedures to enhance efficiency.

2. Team Leadership & Training

  • Recruit, train, and manage a passionate and skilled team of baristas and café staff.

  • Conduct regular team meetings and check-ins to maintain high service standards.

  • Provide ongoing coaching and development to enhance staff skills.

  • Foster a positive and supportive work culture.

3. Inventory & Supplier Management

  • Manage stock levels, ensuring timely ordering and minimising waste.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers for high-quality ingredients.

  • Monitor and control costs to ensure profitability.

4. Customer Experience & Community Engagement

  • Act as the first point of contact for customer concerns, ensuring swift resolution.

  • Work with the marketing team to develop promotions, events, and community engagement initiatives.

  • Gather customer feedback and implement improvements based on insights.

5. Health & Safety Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.

  • Maintain high cleanliness and organisation standards throughout the café.

  • Conduct regular health and safety checks, updating records as required.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a café or restaurant manager.

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team management abilities.

  • Passion for wellness, healthy food, and exceptional customer service.

  • Knowledge of cost control, stock management, and supplier coordination.

  • Ability to analyse and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly financial records.

  • Level 3 Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain).

  • Barista skills and knowledge of specialty coffee.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
